As soon as my little girl was born, I become somewhat of an everyday sustainability nerd. To clarify, not someone that knows the ins and outs of sustainability but tries their best to be sustainable with what they do know and can do day to day.

 

A large focus for me has been endeavouring to always sell or hand down my daughter's no-longer needed items whether shoes, clothes or toys. This has not been an easy feat; it has been time-consuming, space-consuming and, at times, completely unmanageable as a working mom. But with all my power, I am not throwing them away. I have not only sold but also sourced my daughter's clothes and toys sustainably. Selling her outgrown items has also supported me in buying the next round of items needed by my growing toddler.

 

I have been searching for a platform where I can buy sustainable items that I don’t need to choose, that are shipped in one package, ideally once a month, and that don’t cost a fortune. Asking for a unicorn, I know. But there is more, this same platform also needs to support me in selling my items when they are no longer needed.

Since I couldn't find this, I have created it – say hello to We Wear Whimsy. I am aiming to create a simpler way to create sustainability for everyone, so we can all get involved. For brands that aren’t sustainable in their production, let us push them into sustainability by reusing their products more than once. For those brands that are sustainable but are expensive, let’s reduce the cost of purchase by wearing them more and showing their worth as a sustainable brand. Let’s not leave anyone or anything behind in our journey to create sustainability in our little ones’ world.
